Mélodie and Robert Meeting in St Chinian

Masonry consolidation mission found a sponsor!

The Prince Claus Fund (PCF), Netherland fund for Culture and Developement (Cultural Emergency Response http://www.princeclausfund.org/en/programmes/cultural-emergency-response )  agrees to sponsor the 2016 mission dedicated to the masonry stabilization !
The Mani Lakhang restoration team is extremely glad to have finally a chance to restart the restoration work that was stopped since November 2013 ! Thank you PCF !

The mission is planned for the period 10th of May to 10th of July 2016. It will focus on the consolidation and stabilization of the masonry. In priority, the south wall will be consolidated since it is badly opening in its center, for it was not built with through stones originally.
Robert Fierret is a mason specialized in dry-stone masonry walling. He has extensive experience on heritage conservation work (http://www.patrimoine-vivant.com
/en/showcompany/2748 ). Robert agreed to participate to the project and train local masons during 6 weeks in the field. The work will consist in restoring the south wall by inserting through stones ! What a challenge considering that they are wall paintings inside the temple !
