au volant et Motu représente la Dzumsa en tant que messager. Une dame Lachenpa
profite aussi du véhicule pour rendre visite à sa sœur à Thanggu. Le paysage

north ! Bimey is driving
and Motu is Dzumsa’s messenger. A lachen lady is also given a lift to visit her

Nous nous arrêtons à Zeematu à 4km au nord de Lachen sur le
bord de la route pour observer une roche granitique qui a été utilisée dans les
années 80 pour la construction du temple principal récent. Quelques photos pour
montrer à Robert et hop nous voilà repartis.

Zeematu, 4km away from Lachen. On the side of the road we observe a granitic
rock that was used in the 80’s for the construction of the recent main temple
of the monastery. We take a few photographs to show to Robert and we go again!

Arrivés à Thanggu, 3900m d’altitude et un petit peu de neige
tapisse les champs de pomme de terre. Les rochers sur le bord de la route sont
majoritairement de type gneiss mais certains contiennent une grande quantité de
mica. Nous devons aller plus au nord pour trouver une meilleure qualité de
pierre.

In Thanggu,
3900m high in altitude, a thin layer of snow covers the potato fields. The
rocks on the sides of the road are mainly of gneiss type, but some of them
contain too much mica to be used for construction. We need to go higher to find
a better quality of rock.

Plus loin sur la route, à 4100m d’altitude (Michael Dowad
mesure l’altitude sur son GPS), vers le nord oust de THanggu (non pas la route
qui va à Gurudongmar, l’autre, celle qui longe la vallée Copta…), nous trouvons
des roches intéressantes, très dures, d’un vert foncé avec des veines blanches
et qui se clivent bien dans la longueur. Cela ferait de bonnes pierres pour le
temple. Nous avons besoin de pierres d’environ 80cm à 1m pour le travail de
maçonnerie.

Further on
the road, 4100meters high (Michael Dowad measures the altitude on his GPS), to
the north-west from Thanggu (not the road that goes to Gurudongmar lake, the
other one that stretches along the Chopta valley…) we find interesting dark
greenish rocks with white small veins that are very strong but split into flat
segments. This could be convenient to get long stones for the temple. We are
looking for rocks to make stones almost 80cm to 1m long (3 feet).

A 4328m, à Kalapatar, il y a trop de neige pour continuer.
Mais nous sommes déjà contents de ce que nous avons trouvé et ramenons des
échantillons de roche au village pour la Dzumsa qui va nous aider à organiser
la commande.

At 4328m,
in Kalapatar, there is too much snow, we cannot drive further. Anyway we are
satisfied of what we have seen and can bring back rock samples to the village
for the Dzumsa who will help us with the stone order.
