Réunion / thé avec les Nyungney Ams - Meeting / Tea with the Nyungney Ams

Après avoir parlé aux villageois de la Dzumsa, nous avions à cœur d’informer les Nyungney Ams, les Mères du Jeûnes qui pratiquent les rituels bouddhistes dans le temple Mani Lhakhang. Elles sont les utilisatrices principales du temple et sont très curieuses de savoir quand et comment la restauration de leur lieu de culte va avoir lieu.

Une fois toutes arrivées, nous pouvons nous réunir dans la maison en bois située en contrebas du temple. Devadeep leur raconte le projet et de quelle manière nous avons besoin de leur participation : mise à l’abris des objets de culte présents dans le temple, déménagement des ustensiles depuis les cuisines de part et d’autre du temple et surtout, mise à disposition de leur salle de prière afin que nous puissions nous loger en juin et juillet à proximité du temple.

Les deux femmes préposées au thé cette année (chaque année elles changent) pénètrent dans la pièce avec de grandes théières en fer blanc remplies à raz bords de thé au beurre. Chaque femme a apporté aussi des biscuits, des gâteaux, des friandises. La réunion peut attendre !

Finalement, les Nyungney Ams sont d’accord pour tout, et nous logerons dans cette belle pièce de bois où l’équipe avait logé déjà en 2013.

After the Dzumsa meeting, we really wanted to have again a meeting with the Nyngney Ams, the Fasting Mothers who practice Buddhist rituals in the Lachen Mani Lhakhang. They are the main users of the temple and are very curious to know when and how the restoration work will start.

When everybody is there, we gather in the wooden house located below the temple. Devadeep tells them about the project and inform them that we need their participation: they have to put the ritual artefacts in a safe place during the work, they also need to remove all the cooking utensils from the kitchens on both sides of the temple. Particularly, we request them to provide the woden house as a place to accommodate the team during the mission in June and July.

The two women in charge of the tea preparation (they change every year) enter the room with large iron tea pots full with butter tea. Each woman has brought biscutis, cakes and sweets. The meeting can wait!

Finally, the Fasting Mothers agree on everything: we will live in this beautiful wooden room this summer where the team also slept in 2013.
